How to Beat a Lie Detector Test

Why teach people how to beat a lie detector test? Well, it isn't to help criminals. Also, I wouldn't have built this site if I thought the polygraph was used fairly and truly detected lying accurately. So why have I put this information online?

1. Because the so called "lie-detector" machine is based on junk science (the assessment of most serious scientists), and the public should know that.

2. Because good people are gambling their reputations and careers when they agree to a polygraph exam.

3. Because if enough people learn how to pass a polygraph test (many criminals already know how), and why they shouldn't take it in the first place, authorities will be forced to stop pretending this is a valid tool, and stop using it.

[The CIA's] reliance on the polygraph is truly insane. - Former CIA Director John M. Deutch

Whether it is screening applicants or screening employees, the polygraph is a failure. I suspect that its days as a screening tool are deservedly near an end. - Mark Mallah, Former FBI Special Agent

The so-called lie detector test or polygraph examination is primarily a tool of intimidation, meant to get damaging admissions from those who believe there is some science that can detect their guilt. - Steven Scott

Commentary: The American Polygraph Association ceratinly believes in the polygraph machine, but then how objective can they be? Their existence relies on believing, and the $150 annual dues each of the thousands of members pays adds up to some real money for paychecks to the top executives.

Keep in mind that every industry wants to perpetuate itself for monetary reasons. Consider all the training academies that teach polygraph "science" and certify operators. Basic tuition at the Marston Polygraph Academy, for example, is $3,900 for 340 hours of instruction. Nobody in the industry has any reason to doubt the effectiveness of the so called lie detector.
